Feeling a little blu

Hello Bloggers
this weekend I didn't get much done outside, we had rain yesterday which we really needed badly. There have been reported grass fires and a house burned down in a small town not far away so it was time we got some. Forecast for tomorrow....snow to the north of us, they can keep it.
So I did get a couple things done with a swap I am in in May, I got a couple canvas backgrounds painted and ready for some of my sketched faces. I completed 2 sketches in the evenings which I am just thrilled about...
And today I called my dad, he suffers from Dementia and is in a long term care facility on the west coast of Canada. It is always hard to talk to dad, he doesn't answer appropriately and sometimes he doesn't answer at all but I had a need to talk to him just the same, to hear his voice and tell him I love him. He always tells me he loves me too and then  the conversation ends. I am happy to hear his voice but sad that distance and his illness prevents us from having a normal conversation about family, weather, what we have been up to etc. Dad will be 83 this year and I would like to plan a visit perhaps this fall.
Just sharing with you all a little moment of my life,  I know that these things happen and it is a part of life that I have no control over.
Remember to tell those close to you that you love them....even if you have difference with them.
You never know what tomorrow will bring...never have regrets.

  2. Sorry to hear about your Dad! My heart goes out to you! i know what you are going through. I work in a Dementia Unit as a C.N.A/Team Leader at a Nursing Home. I have been a C.N. A for 20+ yrs and I have been at this Nursing Home for 10 years. It is a 5 star rated nursing home in Wisconsin. They just built this Dementia Unit 1 year ago...but I have been working with the Dementia for many years. My heart goes out to my residents and their families. It is so hard to see these residents like this. And the Dementia seems to be hitting people younger and younger these days. We have 2 ladies that are in their early 60's. 3 Gentlemen that are in their early 70's. And the rest in their 80's. We have 18 residents right now on the Dementia Unit. Remember the good times with your Dad and Cherish those memories. I went through classes and I have a certificate as a Certified Dementia Specialist There are different stages to Dementia and they are referred to as Jewels. Very interesting information that I learned through my classes. It gives one a whole new respective on things. Take Care and I hope you get to visit your Dad in the Fall.

  3. Awww Les, how very hard that must be about your Dad. I lost my Dad back in 1983 when he was only 54 years old and it's the hardest thing thus far that I've ever dealt with! I hope you get to go see him soon and that you have a good visit. Prayers and good thoughts for both you and your precious Dad!

  6. We also had some rain, finally!
But VERY cool this time of year even with the sun.
Thanks for the comment on the blog stuff. I do not like what they've done at all. Since it's free I suppose we shouldn't complain....but they would be out of business without us!
    Hugs
