Busy brushes

Well here is what I have been up to...the paint is flying, brushes are busy and things are starting to look a little more like I have some stock.

These jars (sorry the pic is blurry) are for my mini trees and lights. These are a great way to recycle jars and  a nice little edition to your Christmas decor. Great for small spaces or the office!

In just the last 2 days I have been painting ornaments. Sometimes they go quick other years people are looking for other items. Last year I didn't do as many ornaments so I decided I had better do some this year. I still have to put hangers on these and give them some sealer but I always have fun with my ornies.

And finally my ginger shelf sitters from the Ornament Q&E magazine. They are supposed to have a crackle medium on them but my medium is too fine a crackle to use so I might just leave them as is. I thought these would be too detaily but they really aren't.  I am really starting to get in the holiday mood and we haven't even had Thanksgiving yet.

Well off to the kitchen studio and see what else I can come up with.

Or....maybe I will take a break and finish a birthday present that is long overdue overseas. Yes I think that is a better idea and take a break from the painting.

Mask inchies

This week over at Inchy by Inch is the make an inchie with the theme of masks. I am not a big Hallowe'en person but when I got these I said yeah that will do. Now remember these are small enough to fit on a one inch square so cutting was very tricky and intricate. How I managed to have patience is beyond me but I really like intricate details so this is kind of up my alley.

I also added but you can't see it here Glossy Accents. Love this stuff. I used it for the first time tonight and I am a huge fan already. Just adds that bit of wow to your project.

Well I have to get this in before midnight tonight.

Last weeks leaves made it to the page sampler, not too shabby for my first challenge.

Birds of a Feather ATC

I did up a quick ATC for my group ATC for Beginners, this past weeks challenge was to use wording or text or music for your background. So being the moderator I thought I should do the challenge as well to set an example. I used a French script stamp then inked the edges , stamped the branches, collaged birds on the branches, chalked around the birds, glued a feather at the base near the bottom and at the top I set the eyelets and added some fiber for interest. Not to shabby I say.

This time of year reminds me of the Alfred Hitchcock movie " The Birds". The other day I heard this rather loud chorus of birds and looked in the backyard and the one tree was full of black birds or crows and they were cawing and cawing. Reminded me of the movie and was glad I was inside to watch the goings on.

The leaves are falling and everything is very colourful but the nights are very cold now.

I don't really like winter, this means multi layers of clothing and I will be cold til at least July.

So keep warm everyone and my next post I will be showing you some gingerbread shelf sitters I cut out and painted.

Painted wooden puzzles

Man what a busy last few days and not very productive but spending time with family and a day doing groceries and running around town (to browse the shops) has put me a bit behind and time is now ticking, am I complaining? no time with family is very important to me and well worth every minute especially with my SIL.
I spent yesterday with my SIL Penny, she is a watercolour artist and a very good drawer. Check out her website to view her work, I am sure Penny won't mind me giving her a bit of a plug here http://www.winteringreen.com/.  Penny wanted to buy a laptop so we spent the morning chatting, did lunch, then went to the last computer store she hadn't been in yet. She saved a bunch of money on taxes because the computer store is on the Mohawk Reservation south of my house, a few miles away. Today I did the grocery thing, what a waste of money...all down the toilet as far as I am concerned. If you really think about it..and I do occasionally, money well wasted???? Hmmmm I could find lots to do with that money...
On to a lighter subject...here are my puzzles I told you about. These are wooden kids puzzles, nicely laid inside a little wooden frame. I was going to take the puzzles out and then paint something on the back panel and then paint the frame part but I had a brainfart and decided to try one puzzle and see how it goes.
Well here they are, I did 2 puzzles on the Peace on Earth and 1 puzzle and one without the puzzle pieces (because I think I used the pieces on altered art or something) for Oh Holy Night,  but it looked ok as well.
These are both Kim Klassen DeSigns and I loved how they turned out. When I showed them to Penny she suggested they would look nice in a picture frame holder so I wanted to see how they would look and I think I will leave them as is and not bother drilling holes in them to hang with homespun. What do you all think?
I ventured to the dollarstore today and found some more, these are pre printed for kids to basically fill in their own colours, me being the person that I am had to venture out and do my own thing. I think a few with just snowman scenes on them would be cute too.
Well I must get cracking, the end of October will come soon enough and more paint to fly, wood to cut out and things to package up.

Mum N Me

It has a been a busy weekend so I have been a bit blog tardy.

Friday was spent with my Mum in a nice quaint town of Port Hope. We usually meet there because it is halfway between her home and mine. We had a wonderful lunch together then browsed the streets , admiring the shops, noticing some of our favourites now occupied by other shop owners, and generally just chatting along the way and having a great time. Of course there is lots of unending spoiling going on as well.  I love my Mum very much, we have a rather long story to tell but not today, after a separation of 37 years were were reunited and it has been the best event of my life.

So this post is for my Mum, I love you and cherish every moment together.  xoxoxoxoxo
