29 Faces Day 2

Well day 2 has come along, it was a busy day for me so I didn't get to do much in the way of embellishing or colouring or painting this face, but, when I was out shopping I stopped by a dollar store and found these wonderful butterfly stickers that are 3D. As soon as I got home I took one and placed it on my girls hair. Just what she needed. Butterflies intrigue me, they flutter around and add to the beauty of a garden, or a still quiet moment.

I am going to try to do some mixed media and not just pencil sketches but with the days flying by and things to do that creep into my daily routine it will be a challenge just to post a face each day, but, I am committed and I will do this challenge.

I have really enjoyed stopping by some fellow and new bloggers who are also involved in this 29 Faces challenge. I find it very inspiring and learning from each face I see and what I can improve on.
So here is Face number 2 and I hope you will give me some feedback on her. Love to hear your comments.
Til tomorrow....flutter by my butterfly

29 Faces-Day1

Hello everyone,
Well day one has arrived and I am a little nervous about this 29 Faces challenge. I already can tell that I have to find a better lighting source to display my pencil sketches. Anyways I drew this young girl last night and today I coloured it with coloured pencils to add just a touch of colour.
Her name hasn't come to me yet. I have named a lot of my girls but this one didn't really jump out at me. I will study her some more and if I come up with a name I will surely edit this post and add it.
I just started to sketch in February of this year after seeing my friend Jenny come up with her beautiful mixed media faces in the first 29 Faces Challenge.
I always wanted to draw and I knew if I put my mind and hand to it I could do it.
Like all things it takes practise, and a lot of it and helpful criticism.
Well thank you for stopping by, I am on the way to visit the other blogs in this challenge.
I would love to hear you comment.
Take care♥

EDIT: Thanks to Becky this young lady now has a name, Becky said she looks like a Betsy, so Betsy she is.

ATC Background swap and more mini's

Just a very quick post here, 2 posts today.
This one is to show you my ATC backgrounds I received from all participants from Jenxo's ATC background swap. This was a fun exchange of techniques. I put them all together on my ball chain and now I have some more lovely backgrounds to try out.
Thank you Jenxo and all the participants who submitted.
And here are a few more Twinchie canvases I did up within the past week. I love how the Steam punk ones turned out. I had a chunk of mica that Jenxo sent me a long time ago and never used it. I peeled back some and applied on top of the images. Of course I added a bit of Latte alcohol ink first. I added some gears. Made a clock. Found a key charm and coloured it with AI as well. I really love how these turned out.
The sibling image below I found on FlickR and the image was really badly damaged so I took it into Gimp and cleaned it up then coloured it with some antique colours I chose and added some rosy cheeks. These were fun.

Thanks for dropping by. My next post is my 29 Faces-Day 1.

29 Faces

Over at Ayala Art blog, there is an art challenge called 29 Faces. In May we are to draw or do a face in whatever medium each day with 2 days of grace.
Since starting to sketch in January and doing mostly portraits, I think this will be fun and exciting to expand my portfolio. You can click on the button on my sidebar to see all about this challenge and I hope starting May 1 you will come and visit me and give me some feedback on my sketches. I would love to hear from you and if interested, join in.
So off to sharpen my pencils and get my thinking cap on....I am a little nervous but excited to start a new arty journey.
Til next time.....

Shout out to my friend

Hello everyone,
I want to let you know a friend of mine I have known a long time, Becky, is going to have a giveaway as soon as she reaches 85 followers. So if you don't mind please take a peek over at Country Lane Folkart and say hello and follow her.
Becky is a very talented Primitive/Country painter and she has an etsy shop and an online shop for her painted items. All the details are on her blog so take a wander over.
Becky recently added to her chicken brood and she has some really fun pics of the characters that have just recently moved to the coop to join the adult hens.
Thanks everyone and have a super weekend.
